PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Despite a string of challenges, the United States and Pakistan have made progress in advancing the Afghan peace process, the US secretary of state says.
Pakistan played a major role in the signing of the Feb. 29 peace pact between the United States and the Taliban. Islamabad is now working with Washington to enforce the deal.
In an Independence Day message to Pakistan, Secretary Mike Pompeo noted that the US and Pakistan had worked together on issues of critical importance for more than seventy years.
He added: “This last year, despite many challenges, we have made notable progress in advancing the Afghan peace process, and our health and economic cooperation in response to the Covid-19 pandemic is saving lives.”
