Usmani fears Covid-19 spread during Muharram

KABUL Minister Ahmad Jawad Usmani has expressed concern over possible spread of coronavirus during Muharamul Haram, saying the religious events should be held in open with small crowds strictly adhered to social distancing and other precautionary measures.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said that Usmani held a meeting with members of a Commission tasked with organization of Muharamul Haram events.

The Commission hailed efforts of the health ministry regarding containing coronavirus and provision of health services in this regard.

According to the statement, the Commission asked the MoPH to provide it with support and health facilities during Ashura precessions in some areas besides masks, antivirus spray and other necessary materials which could help contain the virus.
