KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Afghan security forces have conducted a military exercise in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.
The Ministry of Defence said after Nangarhar and Paktia, Afghan National Defence and Security Forces (ANDSF) also carried out a military drill near the Durand Line on Sunday.
Addressing the security personnel, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Mohammad Yasin Zia said the drill was aimed to send across a loud and clear message to the enemies of Afghanistan.
He said the military drill was conducted to honor those who were martyred on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha by Pakistan forces in Spin Boldak.
Zia said infantry, commandos, border forces and the air force participated in the exercise, in which heavy and light weapons were used.
Zia said the drill sent a message to the nation and its friends that the Afghan forces had a high professional and combat capability. He was confident that these forces could defend the country’s territorial integrity.
Governor Hayatullah Hayat said NSDF which had always defended the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, enjoyed full confidence and support from their people.
He called the exercise a sign of strength and price of the armed forces who had shown their fighting skills and high morale as foreign troops prepared to exit the country.
