KABUL militants have been killed during clashes with security forces in southern Ghazni province, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the MoD said Taliban insurgents attacked Ghazni city, the provincial capital, from four directions yesterday.
It added at least 30 Taliban militants were killed and their attacks also pushed back by Afghan security forces. The statement said a Taliban hideout was also destroyed.
Security forces and civilians suffered no causalities in these clashes.
Wahidullah Jumazada, the Ghazni governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok the Special Police education and training unit director Firoz Ahmad was also killed in yesterday’s clash.
The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
