GHAZNI CITY/SHARANA (Pajhwok): At least nine Taliban militants have been killed and another four wounded in southern Ghazni while a weapons depot was discovered in southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Sunday.
Ghazni Governor’s spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada told Pajhwok Afghan News that militants stormed security check-posts in Askarkot and Liwane bazaar areas of the Qarabagh district late on Saturday night.
In the ensuing clashes, nine Taliban insurgents were killed and four others wounded as their nighttime attack was repulsed, he said. Two security forces were also wounded in the firefight.
According to another report, security forces discovered a weapons depot belonging to Taliban militants in Barmal district of Paktika province late on Saturday night.
An intelligence official in the province said the depot contained different types of weapons, mostly Pakistani origin.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the incidents.
