FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Eight public uprising members have been killed and five others wounded in a Taliban province, an official said on Tuesday.
Ghulam Sakhi Sabooryar, administrative chief for Shahrak district, told Pajhwok Afghan News: “The Taliban attacked security check-posts 800 metres from the district building on Monday night.”
Eight pro-government fighters were killed and five others wounded, he said, adding two of the injured were in critical condition.
Local sources said the Taliban took away all weapons and ammunition of the pro-government forces as a result of the assault.
The district chief also acknowledged that the check-post was captured by militants.
However, the insurgents have not yet commented on the overnight attack.
