KABUL and its people and stressed the reduction in violence and political settlement to the conflict.
Addressing a Heart of Asia meeting through video, UK Ambassador to Afghanistan Alison Blake said that the UK continued to believe that an inclusive political process remained the only way to end the war and bring stability, security and prosperity to #Afghanistan.
The UK Embassy in Kabul quoted the ambassador as saying: “As friends of Afghanistan, we must all work together to overcome the obstacles in the way of this vision. This is why we call strongly for a reduction in violence.”
There was a clear demand of the Afghan people to bring the violence down, and the onus was on the Taliban, she was quoted by an official twitter account of the UK embassy.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and to the people of Afghanistan.”
“We share the vision of a progressive and prosperous Afghanistan; democratic, free, stable & at peace with itself & its neighbours; a partner to the region & to the world, which shares the universal values of good governance, accountability, & human rights for all.”
“This is not just about preserving the gains of the past 19 years, but building on them, ensuring that they are a reality for all Afghans.”
