KABUL (Pajhwok): Rahmani Foundation assisted 1,340 families affected by recent floods in central Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir and Sorobi district of Kabul province on Saturday.
According to the Ministry of State for Disaster Management, at least 160 people were killed, more than 250 injured and more than 1,500 homes were destroyed in flash floods in 14 provinces last week.
An official in Parwan province said about one thousand houses were destroyed, 114 people were killed, 126 injured and more than 250 people were still missing.
The Rahmani Foundation said it distributed cash, food and tents to 700 families in Parwan province and reached out to flood victims in Kapisa and Panjshir provinces.
The foundation said it distributed flour, rice and oil, and other materials to 300 families each in the two provinces.
The Rahmani Foundation also donated 5,000 afghanis to each of 40 affected families in Sorobi district of Kabul after a report by Pajhwok Afghan News about floods in the district and loss of lives.
The money was distributed to the victims by a representative of Pajhwok Afghan News Agency on Friday.
Sayed Karim, a resident of Sorobi district and a recipient of the aid, said his house was destroyed by floods. He thanked the Rahmani Foundation for the aid.
