KABUL (Pajhwok): Former President Hamid Karzai has declined the membership of High National Reconciliation Council (HNRC) and said he would not become part of any government structure, according to a statement on Friday.
Earlier, Presidential Palace released the list of 46 HNRC members in which former President Karzai was also included.
A statement from Karzai’s office said that the former president would continue his efforts for peace and reconciliation as an individuals but he would not become part of any government structure.
According to presidential decree, the key members of HNRC are Hamid Karzai, Abdul Rab Rasoul Sayyaf, Eng. Gulbuddin Kekmatyar, Karim Khalili, Abdul Rashid Dostum, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Salahuddin Rabani, Atta Mohammad Noor, Ismael Khan, Younis Qanoni, Hamid Gilani, Zabihullah Mujadidi, Syed Mansour Naderi, Enayatullah Shahrani, Eng. Mohammad Khan, Sadiq Mudabir, Esmael Ghazanfar, Maulvi Khudaidad Saleh, and head of the Ulema Council.
