KABUL militants have been killed and eight others wounded during clashes in western Herat province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Saturday.
At least 25 insurgents, including a dreaded commander, were killed in firefights in Pashtun Zarghoon district, a statement from the ministry said.
The fighters had gathered in the area over the past few days, planning attacks in the district. The security forces, enjoying air support, carried out the operation on Friday.
