PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): At least 10 Taliban militants, including two foreign rebels, have been killed in a clash with security forces in central Logar province, an official said on Sunday.
Ahmad Shakeel Tasal, spokesman for 203rd Thunder Military Corps 4th brigade, told Pajhwok Afghan News the insurgents stormed security check-posts in Pangram area of the Sarkh district late on Saturday night.
He said 10 Taliban militants, including a Pakistani national and a Chechen national, were killed in the nighttime attack.
Civilians and security forces had suffered no causalities in the overnight clash, he added.
Noorullah, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok that the Taliban militants have increased their attacks in the Sarkh district from the past few days.
He said there was a fight between security forces and the Taliban in their area late on Saturday night but he had no further information on this regard.
The Taliban have also confirmed their attack in Sarkh district and the group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed capturing a number of security check-posts and inflecting heavy causalities on security forces in the area.
