MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The residents and lawmakers of northern Balkh province on Monday linked growing crimes in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, with tens of active casinos.
They said majority of criminals decide to mug people after they lose money in gambling.
Lawmakers said some of the casinos belonged to local influential people and security personnel could not take decisive action against them.
Local officials acknowledged that some casinos opened by local powerful individuals but added that security forces started to take serious action against them.
