KABUL delegation would begin talks in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Saturday, a well-placed source said on Thursday.
According to the source, the government’s team would leave Kabul for Doha on Friday amid chances that US Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo to attend the inaugural talks.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, head of the High National Reconciliation Council (HNRC) or Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad HanifAtmar would speak on the behalf of the Afghan government.
The meeting would also discuss media coverage and dissemination of information and an agreement would be reached in this regard as well as formal talks would begin on Monday.
According to the source, six Taliban prisoners, who face international objections about their release, would be flied to Doha and would be kept there until November after which a final decision about their fate would be made.
According to the source, 19 members of the government delegation would be traveling to Doha. Two members including Fatema Gilani could not travel due to cancer illness and Ghairat Baheer, senior member of Hizab-e-Islami, denied partaking in the talks.
