KHOST/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nearly two dozen Taliban militants have been killed in two separate airstrikes in southeastern Khost province, an official said Friday.
Khost police spokesman Adil Shah Adil told Pajhwok that the rebels stormed national police posts in Ghalang area of Qalandar district last night.
He said air support was called in during the firefight, in which 10 attackers were killed. Their bodies remained in the area, he added.
Adil said separately an airstrike killed 12 Taliban insurgents in Sabari district last night. The airstrike was carried out based on intelligence reports.
In eastern Nangarhar province, a bomb blast injured five people in the Khogyani district on Friday.
The blast caused by a magnetic bomb took place near butcher shops in Kaga bazaar area, the governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said.
He said the sticky bomb was affixed to the motorcycle of a local influential figure Malak Sherbaz, who was also injured in the blast.
