PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): At least 13 members of an uprising group have been killed and another five wounded in a Taliban attack in central Logar province, an official said Saturday.
A government official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed the uprising members’ check-posts in Matani area of Pul-i-Alam City, the provincial capital, late Friday night.
He said 13 uprising members were killed and five others wounded in the nighttime attack, taking away their weapons and ammunition.
A resident of the area, Bilal, told Pajhwok that Taliban militants also captured an uprising members’ check-post in the area.
He said an insider in the check-post also provided an opportunity for the Taliban to wage the attack.
The Taliban also confirmed the attack and their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed inflecting heavy causalities on security forces in the area.
