Hours after the launch of the historic peace talks in Doha, the Taliban conducted the attack in Tagab district, the provincial police spokesman said.
Shaiq Shourish said five policemen including the district crime branch head were killed and seven others wounded in the insurgent attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
