Atmar hails Pakistan’s stance in Afghan war

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar has commended Pakistan.

Atmar endorsed Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s views at the launching ceremony for Intra-Afghan negotiations in Doha.

Atmar tweeted on Sunday: “I fully share the view of Qureshi & Foreign Office that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan will bring new opportunities for the progress and prosperity of the region. We appreciate Pakistan’s support for lasting peace.”

Addressing participants of the historic event, Qureshi had promised Pakistan would always be in full support and solidarity with Afghan people as they continued their journey on the road to peace, security.

Also on Sunday, Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz hailed the commencement of the intra-Afghan dialogue as a new dawn for the war-torn country.

In a tweet, the minister said the initiative was a victory for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s stance that a political settlement was the only settlement to the long-running conflict.
