<p>MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Croatian military mission in <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a> has formally come to an end with the departure of its last soldiers from Camp Marmal in Mazar-i-Sharif.</p>
<p>Marking an end to the Croatian army’s participation in the <a href="/en/nato" class="glossify-link">NATO</a>-led Resolute Support mission, a flag-lowering ceremony took place here on Saturday.</p>
<p>About 100 Croatian service members remained stationed in Afghanistan at the peak of their mission. However, the number fell to 76 in July 2020.</p>
<p>With signing of the peace pact with <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> in February this year, the US agreed to cut its troop presence in Afghanistan over the next few months from 16,000 to about 12,000.</p>
<p>As a result of the ongoing pullout, the number of the US military personnel in Afghanistan has come down from 13,000 to 8,600. Around 4,000 US troops are likely to leave the country by November.</p>
