2 killed as Taliban attack district chief’s residence

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Two individuals have been killed and a third wounded in a Taliban attack on the house of the Baraki Barak district chief in central Logar province, an official said on Tuesday.

Deedar Lawang, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the casualties occurred after militants attacked the residence of Ahmad Wais Abdul Rahimzai in the Gumran area of Mohammad Agha district on Monday night.

He said a brother and a bodyguard of Abdul Rahimzai were killed and another brother of the official seriously wounded in the overnight assault.

Javed, a resident the area, said the Taliban stormed the house Abdul Rahimzai last night. He confirmed the killing of Abdul Rahimzai’s brother Hashmat and his bodyguard Ibrahim.

However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the attack.
