AIBAK (Pajhwok): A fire swept through a wood market in northern Samangan province on Wednesday, causing around two million afghanis losses on shop owners, an official said.

The fire broke out at around 4:30pm in Dara-e-Suf Road in Aibak City, the provincial capital. Carpentry shops and wood needed for construction are sold in the market.

Police spokesperson Munir Rahimi said firefighters had arrived at the scene and the fire was being controlled by them. He said the fire caused two million afghanis losses to shop owners in the market.
