HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A heavy car bombing in Zawal district of western Herat province has rendered some children deaf, others suffering from uncontrolled nigh-time urinating and some pregnant women had a miscarriage.
The residents of Zawal district told Pajhwok Afghan News that a heavy car bombing near a security forces base in Azizabad area created psychological problems in children and elders.
Haji Noor Ahmad, 55, said he was suffering from headache after the massive blast that took place a few nights ago. “It was very powerful and horrific. I never experienced such a horror.”
He claimed pregnant mothers had a miscarriage as a result of the intensity of the blast. The elderly man said besides psychological and other issues, the explosion also caused huge financial losses to local people.
Aziz Ahmad, another resident, said not only children but elderly and middle aged people were also complaining about earache after the heavy blast rocked their locality.
Zawal district chief Mohammad Saeed Sarwari said the Taliban used 10 tons of explosives in the attack on security forces base in the urban area.
Sarwari said most of children lost the ability to hear and were urinating during nights.
Governor spokesperson Jilani Farhad confirmed the incident and said after the bombing, an airstrike was conducted in the area in which 10 Taliban were killed.
It is worth mentioning that six security personnel were killed and as many injured in the blast.
