KABUL (Pajhwok): So far distributing more than one million computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC), the National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) on Wednesday said it would begin inclusion of mother’s name in the cards until next month.
NSIA Head Ahmad Javid Rasouli said the inclusion of mother’s name in CNIC would be optional as THOSE who did not want mother’s name to be written would not be forced.
He said since the launch of the computerized NIC distribution, so far over one million cards had been distributed inside and outside the country.
Rasouli said 45 centres in all provinces and two centres in Iran were issuing CNICs to people.
He said more centres in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates would be opened to issue CNICs to Afghans.
