KABUL (Pajhwok): A major soccer tournament featuring eight teams is all poised to get under way in Kabul today (Thursday), officials say.
In the opener of the eighth edition of the Afghan Premier League (APL), Toofan Harirod are scheduled to square off against De Abasin Sape.
Toofan Harirod from the western zone of the country clinched the APL title last year. In fact, the club has thrice won the tournament.
At a news conference in Kabul on Wednesday, coaches of both teams sounded confident that their sides would play competitive football in the opening match.
The eight teams taking part in the event are Shaheen Asmayee, De Maiwand Atalan, Toofan Harirod, Simorgh Alborz, Mawjhai Amu, De Spinghar Bazan, De Abasin Sape, and Oqaban Hindu Kush.
