FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Governor of northeastern Badakhshan Province Mohammad Zikrya Sawda on Saturday claimed released Taliban prisoners have returned to the battle ground and fighting security forces.
Addressing reporter here, Sawda said the Taliban in violation to their commitment has intensified their attacks in some provinces recently.
He claimed the Taliban recently released from prisons have returned to the battle grounds and fighting security forces.
Sawda said security forces have arrested some Taliban during a clash in the Kof Ab district, adding that the detained Taliban had been identified as those who recently freed from the prisons.
He said documents were available with them to support his claim.
Back to back Taliban attacks in different districts of Badakhshan worried its residents.
Sanaullah the resident of Badakhshan said the security situation of the province deteriorated and clashed reached close to Faizabad, the provincial capital.
“Badakhshan security situation is worrying. The Taliban attacks increasing in different parts of the province and some people have migrated to other places fearing insecurity and clashes,” he said.
