KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 20 fighters have been killed and 17 others wounded in clashes and airstrikes in central Uruzgan province, an official claimed on Thursday.
Ahmad Shah Sahil, the governor’s spokesman, said the insurgents -- armed with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades -- restarted attacks on the security forces on Tuesday.
Ground forces, backed by the Afghan Air Force, retaliated and killed at least 21 fighters and injured 17 others in Deh Rawood district, Xinhua quoted Sahil as saying.
