KABUL commander has been killed during a security operation in the Paghman district of Kabul, an official said on Saturday.
Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Pajhwok Afghan News the notorious rebel commander, Awal Khan, was killed along with two associates on Friday night.
He said Awal Khan had come from Maidan Wardak province to conduct attacks against the security forces in Kabul.
Separately, a statement from the ministry said police had defused a motorcycle bomb and 10 landmines in five provinces of the country.
The militants wanted to detonate the motorcycle-bomb in Khost City and the other devices in Ismailkhel district. But the bombs were defused.
