GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Taliban militants killed three civilians, including a tribal elder, in the Mirzaka district of southeastern Paktia province, local residents said on Tuesday.
Residents told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban insurgents attacked the homes of tribal elder Jamil Mangal and Shawak district administrative chief in Khalilano village.
Zirat Gul, a resident of the area, said Jamil Mangal and his son Doli Gul Khatir were killed by the insurgents.
He said the Taliban also killed nephew of Hayat Mohammad Khalil, the Shawak district chief.
He said residents of these areas were angry at the insurgents and were yet to bury the dead bodies.
Abdullah, another resident, said Taliban militants have increased their attacks and were closing in on the district center.
Acting police chief Col. Lotfullah Kamran also confirmed the incident to Pajhwok, saying the country’s, nation and Islam enemies attacked the innocent people late on Monday night.
