LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least nine security personnel have been killed after two Afghan National Army (ANA) helicopters collided in southern Helmand province.
A security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that two choppers crashed as a result of collision in the Nawa district on Tuesday night.
He said eight ANA soldiers were killed in the overnight crash.
Meanwhile, Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the crash of two choppers and said there is no information about casualties.
Ministry of Defence in a statement said that two ANA helicopters crashed due to technical issues while they were taking off in Nawa district at around 1:15am on Tuesday night.
It said nine individuals aboard were killed in the crash and an investigation was underway. MoD expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
