Bridge linking 4 Nangarhar districts blown up

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Armed insurgents dynamited a bridge in the Sararud district of eastern Nangarhar province, blocking access to four districts, an official said Sunday.

Governor spokesman Ataullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants blew up the bridge with explosives in Fatehabad area of Sararud district late Saturday.

He said the bridge was completely destroyed, disconnecting people in Khogyani, Hesarak, Sherzad and Sararud districts.

A resident of the area, Hussain Shah, said first two heavy explosions took place and then shots were fired on Saturday night.

When he reached the main road in the morning, he saw the bridge destroyed and dozens of cars were lined up on both sides.
