KABUL and decades of cooperation from the neighbouring country with the Afghan people.
Currently on a three-day visit to Iran, High Council for National Reconciliation Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said four decades of war had imposed a heavy burden on Afghanistan besides ruining its economy.
In a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in Tehran on Monday, he voiced happiness over growing bilateral relations, including the preparation of the Iran-Afghanistan comprehensive cooperation document,
Abdullah promised his country would follow up issues related to border markets and water and a joint commission would be created soon to cement Tehran-Kabul cooperation.
Baqer Qalibaf said Iran always supported Afghanistan’s independence and security and hoped for sustainable peace in the conflicted-devastated neighbour, according to İRNA.
Muslim countries in Southwestern Asia and subcontinent were passing through the most sensitive phase, the speaker noted, saying the region had faced foreign interventions that caused insecurity.
