116 new Covid-19 cases surfaced in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Thursday 116 more individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said 440 individuals underwent tests and 116 of them were diagnosed with the virus, taking the nation’s tally to 40,626.

Of the fresh cases, 12 were detected in Kabul, 41 in Herat, three in Kandahar, 11 in Balkh, two in Nangarhar, 12 in Kunduz, 15 in Baghlan, 12 in Parwan, two each in Laghman, Kunar, Panjsher, and one each in Helmand and Zabul province.

Seven individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing up the number of recoveries to 33,831.

At least four people lost their lives to the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 1,505.
