KABUL insurgents have been killed and 26 others wounded in security operations in Kandahar, Kunduz and Uruzgan provinces.

A statement from the 205th Atal Military Corps in Kandahar said the security forces conducted operations in Shalghami, Mandoz, Koka and Karez areas of Maiwand district and the Lawang locality of Maroof district on Wednesday night.

The statement said 36 militants were killed and 16 others wounded in the overnight operations.

In a separate statement, the corps said 17 insurgents were killed and 10 others wounded in the Gizab district of neighbouring Uruzgan province.

In Kabul, the Ministry of Defence said at least 21 rebels, including commanders Ahmadi and Haqqani, were killed during a security raid in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz on Wednesday night.

But a security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News two security personnel were killed and six othes wounded in Imam Sahib.

The Taliban have not yet commented about the security operations and the government’s claim of inflicting casualties on the fighters.
