Abu Mohsen Al Misri, who featured on the FBI’s most-wanted list, was killed during an operation in southern Ghazni province on Saturday.
The National quoted an Afghan spy agency official as saying that Al Misri, an Egyptian national, headed Al-Qaeda operations in the Indian subcontinent.
Al Misri, identified by his alias Husam Abd-al-Ra’uf on the FBI’s list, was eliminated in the Taliban-infested Andar district. “He was caught while we were trying to arrest him.”
According to the newspaper, a federal warrant for his arrest was issued by the Southern District Court of New York on December 27, 2018.
