KABUL (Pajhwok): Four members of the Afghan government backed negotiating team have returned to Kabul from Doha and three more members would also be back until the end of this week, a well-placed source told Pajhwok Afghan News on Monday.
According to the source, State Minister for Peace Affairs Syed Saadat Mansour Naderi, Abdul Matin Baig, Fauzia Kofi and Kaleemullah Naqibi have returned to Kabul.
A reliable source in the State Ministry for Peace confirmed to Pajhwok the return of the four negotiators and said they had arrived in Kabul for their personal works.
A tweet from the ministry said Minister Sadat Naderi met with the US ambassador in Kabul in his office. They discussed the unacceptable level of violence, how to break the gridlock in Doha, involving Afghan interest groups in the talks and the upcoming Geneva Conference and how to leverage it in the peace process.”
According to the ministry, no major development happened in the peace talks, but the negotiating team was calm and patient and this was the president’s directive as well.
The Taliban political office in Qatar has not spoken in this regard.
