Afghanistan records 95 virus cases, 5 deaths

KABUL: (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Sunday 95 more individuals had tested positive for Covid-19 in Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said 489 people underwent tests and 95 of them were diagnosed with the virus, taking the nation’s tally to 41,032.

Of the fresh cases, 34 were reported in Herat, 23 in Balkh, 10 in Baghlan, seven in Kandahar, five in Kunduz, three in Nangarhar, two each in Kabul and Paktia, Logar, Laghman and Helmand, one each in Kunar, Maidan Wardak and Ghazni provinces.

At least 67 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the period, pushing up the number of recoveries to 34,217.

Five people lost their lives to the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 1,523.
