QALAT (Pajhwok): At least six Taliban insurgents, including a commander who was released among the rebel 5,000 prisoners, have been killed in southern Zabul province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police chief Hikmatullah Kochi told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban commander Ahmad Shah had been freed a few months back by the government.
He said that the commander, who had returned to the battlefield, was killed along with five associates in a clash with the security forces in Sekhak area on Tuesday.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the firefight.
