A MoPH statement said 523 people underwent tests in various laboratories across the country during the past 24 hours, with 123 testing positive for the infection.
Of the fresh cases, 27 surfaced in Herat, 20 in Daikundi, 19 each in Kabul and Takhar, 14 in Balkh, six in Kunduz, five in Kapisa, three each in Kandahar, Nimroz, Parwan and Panjsher and one in Jawzjan province.
The period saw two patients recovering from the virus, taking the number of recoveries to toll to 34,239.
Two persons died of the virus since yesterday and thus the deaths rose to 1,532.
The ministry asked people to strictly follow its health guidelines to contain the disease.
