<p>JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police have detained 230 people in connection with various crimes during the past one month in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Thursday.</p>
<p>Governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the suspects were detained in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, and districts during the past one month.</p>
<p>He said the detainees included 24 drug smugglers and 399 kilograms of drugs were recovered from them.</p>
<p>He said the detainees had been referred to the judicial organs for further investigation.</p>
<p>He also said five persons involved in kidnapping had been sentenced to 12 years in prison each.</p>
