Atmar, Wilson talk challenges to peace talks

KABUL.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday that the two sides discussed strategic relations between Afghanistan and United States.

Atmar welcomed America’s continued commitment to Afghanistan over the past 19 years, especially its support for the peace talks, the statement added.

The officials also conferred on the latest security and political developments in Afghanistan and challenges to ongoing peace talks in Doha.

The importance of regional and international support for the success of the process and the preservation and strengthening of bilateral cooperation also came up for discussion.

Atmar called the continued support of the US to the people and government of Afghanistan important for achieving sustainable peace and stability.

Wilson assured Atmar of his country's continued commitment to and cooperation with Afghanistan.
