LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least seven civilians were killed, including children and women, and five others wounded when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in southern Helmand province on Monday, an official said.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in Mandawi area of Lashkargah, the provincial capital.
The civilians’ vehicle struck the hidden bomb, leaving seven individuals dead and five others wounded, he informed.
Meanwhile, officials at the Emergency-run hospital in Lashkargah said four bodies and as many injured people had been brought to the hospital.
They said the dead and wounded included children and women.
Governor Yaseen Khan confirmed the blast and blamed the Taliban for planting the landmine.
However, the Taliban have not yet commented about the roadside bomb blast.
