SHARANA (Pajhwok): Security on the Paktia-Paktika highway has been ensured after 10 years by establishing new bases and posts along the route.
Governor MujibRahmanChamkani told Pajhwok Afghan News the Paktia-Paktika highway in Zurmat district had been insecure for long years.
He said security bases and check-posts had now been established in insecure areas and people could move freely.
Police chief NajibullahSarteer told Pajhwok the security issue of the highway had been resolved by deploying police and Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel.
Zulmai, a government employee, said traveling on the highway was difficult before.
“The Taliban would come out on the highway previously and people would avoid travelling on the highway, but currently they will be able to travel on the highway fearlessly,” he added.
