Peace in Afghanistan is one of my high aspirations: Mirziyoyev

TASHKENT (Pajhwok): The president of Uzbekistan during his meeting with chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) has said his country was ready to support Afghanistan in regional connectivity, building a railway and fighting Covid19.

HCNR chairman, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, accompanied by a high-level delegation arrived to Uzbekistan late on Tuesday and met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Mirziyoyev said that his country was ready for comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan and supported peace efforts under the ownership and leadership of Afghans.

He said that his country bonded great importance to relations with Afghanistan and was ready to cooperate with the country in the areas of regional connectivity, railway construction and dealing with Covid19 pandemic.

He also said that achieving peace in Afghanistan and cooperating in the peace process was an aspiration for him and he was ready to provide full support on the regard.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of HCNR thanked Mirziyoyev for his invitation to the neighbor country and warm reception from him and his delegation.

Abdullah also thanked Uzbekistan for its support to Afghan peace process and its assistance to Afghanistan.

Abdullah provided explanation about ongoing peace efforts, current political and security situation in Afghanistan, Doha negotiations and opportunities and challenges on the way of peace.

He said that Afghanistan was ready to take advantage of the opportunity made for peace and had so far taken practical steps on the regard.

HCRN chairman condemned increased violence across Afghanistan and asked the Taliban to deescalate the conflict and make use of the chance created for peace.

Peace in Afghanistan is in advantage for the whole region and achieving it can pave way for regional development, cooperation and connectivity, he concluded.
