AIBAK (Pajhwok): An upraising group commander has been killed in a Taliban attack in Aibak, capital of northern Samangan province, officials said Thursday.
Samangan police spokesman, Munir Rahimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Qando, an upraising group commander was killed in a Taliban attack on his residence in Mangtash area of Aibak city.
He said that the incident took place around 8pm on Wednesday night and the Taliban also took away the weapon of the commander.
A local resident, who wished to go unnamed, confirmed the incident and said, “Qando was a former Taliban commander and had stopped fighting, but he recently became an upraising commander.”
Taliban did not comment on the incident so far.
