MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): At least three security personnel, including a commander of border forces, have been killed in northern Balkh province, an official said on Saturday.

Hanif Rezaee, a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News Maj. Naeem Paikar was killed along with two other security personnel in the roadside bombing.

He said the incident took place in Shor Tepa district on Friday night when the Humvee tank the commander was traveling in struck the roadside bomb.

He said Paikar was heading to support the security forces during a clash with the Taliban when his vehicle was hit by the landmine. A fourth security man was injured.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
