KUNDUZ (Pajhwok): The governor of northern Kunduz province on Monday called on people to speak out against the ongoing war in the country.

Governor Abdul SatarMirzakwal, who visited Chahar Dara district, addressed a gathering of tribal elders and residents, saying he was ready to start peace talks with local Taliban in Kunduz capital to ensure security.

ArbabAminullah, a tribal elder from Chahar Dara district said, people supported the government to the best of their ability but they struggled with problems in development, health, rehabilitation and other areas.

“We are ready monitor progress of projects, but there are no projects,” he said.

Governor Mirzakwal said the Afghan government was committed to achieving balanced development in all areas and called on Chahar Dara elders to support the system and speak out against the unjust war.

“I will start talks with Taliban wherever they want to ensure security in Kunduz and a ceasefire in the province, so that no more children are orphaned and women no longer become widows,” said Mirzakwal.

He assured the people of Chahdara of special attention to the district in areas of security, development, health, education, development and agriculture.
