Kabul, Islamabad agree on hassle-free transit trade

KABUL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange Electronic Data Interchange for rapid and hassle-free movement of transit goods to save time and money, Pakistan Embassy in Kabul said on Tuesday.

Both sides also discussed opening of new corridors and ports of entry/exit for Afghan Transit Trade to provide maximum relief to Afghan traders, a statement from the Pakistani mission said.

It was also decided in the meeting that further deliberations would be made in the next meeting to be held in Islamabad in December, 2020.

The agreement signing comes after the 7^th meeting of Afghanistan-Pakistan Transit Trade Coordination Authority (APTTA) between Razak Dawood, Advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment and Afghanistan Acting Minister for Commerce and Trade Nisar Ahmad Ghoryan

Razak Dawood said a new era between both the countries has begun and assured his full support to the people of Afghanistan to develop better future for the next generation.

He said Pakistan was committed to greater integration and ready to work together for prosperity of the region.

The meeting was held to review and renegotiate the Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement which is going to expire in February 2021.
