HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Health officials in western Herat province on Sunday warned against surge in coronavirus infections and deaths.
Public Health Department spokesperson Mohammad RafiqSherzai said inspections of surveillance teams showed that 36 coronavirus patients died in the past 12 days in the ShaheedBaseemShaidaee Hospital.
He said laboratory tests showed 13 people died from coronavirus while the results of other deceased persons will come in coming days. Earlier, nine people died from the virus during one month in the same hospital.
He said in the past 12 days, 45 percent result of coronavirus test were positive, adding that currently 73 persons were hospitalised in the Shaidaee Hospital in which the health condition of 30 patients was unstable.
Health official have asked the masses to wear masks and avoid going to crowded places.
Meanwhile, some residents of Herat province expressed concern over lack of seriousness regarding coronavirus.
Majority of people don’t wear masks and attend large gatherings.
