KABUL (Pajhwok): Businesswomen in northern Jawzjan province on Sunday termed insecurity as a major hurdle to promotion of their businesses and asked parties to the Afghanistan conflict to renounce violence and reconcile.

Over 100 women have been busy doing different types of business in the province, according to statistics with the Women Affairs Department.

ZakiaSufizada, one of the businesswomen, told Pajhwok Afghan News that women could work better if they were provided with suitable environment.

She runs a restaurant in Shiberghan City, the provincial capital. “Despite security challenges, the restaurant is smoothly running.”

She asked the government and conflicting parties to provide more opportunities for women’s participation in social affairs so they could work and serve their families.

She hoped that an end to the conflict and peace would provide the people an opportunity to work and live in a peaceful environment.

MalalaiMubarez, assistant head of a training centre in Shiberghan City, said that some women were faced with different challenges in society, while others were busy doing businesses and playing role in economic development of their families.

“Women have more capabilities, if business opportunities are provided to us, they can undoubtedly progress on the basis of their abilities and talent,” she said.
