KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 121 new Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 12 people dying from the virus.
The ministry said 873 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours, with 121 testing positive. The total number of cases in the country thus rose to 45,963.
Of the fresh cases, 62 were recorded in Kabul, 19 in Balkh, 11 in Kandahar, nine in Nangarhar, six in Baghlan, four each in Logar and Zabul and two each in Bamyan, Parwan and Uruzgan.
About 349 people recovered from the pandemic in the past 24 hours, pushing up recoveries to 36,644 in the country.
At least 12 people died from the virus during the period and the total tally thus increased to 1,752.
The ministry announced that the second wave of the pandemic had begun in the country and people should follow its guidelines.
