KABUL (Pajhwok): The High Economic Council (HEC) has approved 67 mega and small mining projects which will help generate 150 to 170 million afghan revenue, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) said on Thursday.
The supply of liquid gas from Shiberghan to Mazar-e-Sharif which will generate 50 Megawatt electricity and the start of work on TAPI gas pipeline are the projects to be launched in the near future, the ministry said.
Mining and Petroleum Minister Mohammad Haroon Chakansuri said that the HEC has approved 67 mining of natural reservoirs out of total 108 proposed sites.
He said these sites situated in the 23 provinces of the country including mining different construction materials at 45 sites, marble mining at 11 sites and mining of three each sites of Garnet and Tarawtino.
“In a short period time these projects would be offered for bidding in lines with the rules and regulations of the MoMP. The agreement would be inked on the bases of international standards,” said Chakhansouri.
He said the projects will draw 800 million afghani investment and generate 150 to 170 million afghani revenue annually with 3,000 people directly benefiting from work opportunities.
He said the HEC earlier approved 37 more mining projects.
